just as an interesting thing, I did pick up a clone tech 2 and under the amp modual there's an option to turn noise canceling on and off. just thought that was interesting.
That may be just for testing purposes only you could try it by turning it off in the menu then back out, cycle the key off/on and go back in and see if it is still turned off

Well, my second tech2 just bit the dust. I inadvertently started the truck while it was booting up and it flaked out. Wouldn’t connect to the candi and now has a blue screen unless I hold the cord tight to the back. I think I am done with these things. Too bad, I liked having the tool but can’t keep dropping $300 on one every year.

Does it work with the cord held? (I'm assuming you mean pushing it in?) Maybe the CF card took a hit and you need software?
That's a bummer... hoping you can get it fixed so when mine breaks you can tell me how to fix it!

If I hold the cord it boots but won’t connect to the candi. Maybe just needs a new VCIM but our little friends that are building these don’t help with warranty

Yikes! Never start car while booting, now we know! Yea what could it possibly have been a low voltage while booting? Makes no sense about the cable..

Might be time for a vxdiag VCX nano.. Good little writeup here, although it looks like a pain to setup.. It sounds like they have it figured out..

Yeah, I don’t know what the heck happened. It was just an automatic movement to go to start instead of key on.
