So I have an idea custom engine cover. Need a the center cover from an escalade (think its from a 2002) need the one with the Cadillac emblem on it. A cover from a terrain denali with the gmc emblem on it. My idea is to remove the Cadillac emblem , replace it with the gmc one. Remove the engineered by Cadillac stuff on the sides of it. Paint all the covers body color. I have a buddy that does some airbrushing so I might get him to do something on the side covers in silver. Couple of pictures to help understand what I'm thinking.

Started by removing the Cadillac emblem , it was just glued on. Just used a dental pick to gently lift it off. Then sanded all the silver paint off with 80 grit where vortec ** is. Then used adhesion promoter to help make sure the bumper repair glue sticks good. After the glue dried I sanded that area with 80 grit until I could see all the letters were full and level.

After I was happy with how the letters were filled in , I sanded the whole cover with 240 and a red scotch brite pad. Blow it off really good then sprayed adhesion promoter again , followed by etch prime and then finally 3 coats of high build primer.

So I went to sand the center part of the engine cover and found out that the primer didn't stick to it. Not exactly sure why it didn't. So grabbed some 80 grit paper and proceed to sand off the primer so I can get more practice hand sanding and priming... My wife thinks I'm nuts, I used the kitchen sink like a prep area. It worked pretty good had a place to have the primer dust go , clean up was pretty simple turn the tap and clean the sink...lol. All sanded again.
