We don't realize how good we have it today even with conventional oils. As a kid in the '50s I had a couple of old Chevys (1930s) that each had about a half-inch of sludge under the rocker covers when I got them. On the first one I literally could not find one of the head bolts as it was invisible under the crud. Enjoy.

Mobil 1 and you still change at 3k. You are wasting your money. The pics here show you how good it is for your motor. I have used Mobile 1 in many cars over the last MANY years and all of them went 150k and plus some and were clean as hell internally.

To each, their own, brother.

As an ASE certified master Tech, I will say with undoubting certainty that oil change intervals are FAR MORE important to an engines longevity and cleanliness than the type of oil used. Testing on one of my own previous vehicles (2010 Yukon Denali) proved this out. Vehicle had a 5k OCI and samples were sent to Blackstone labs for analysis. The truck was used to tow our fairly heavy boat (around 7600lbs). We tested Mobil 1, as well as cheap conventional oil (Service Pro, conventional oil as well as their synthetic variant) in this testing we saw ZERO difference in the contaminants contained in the tested oil. The iron and copper content in the oil were identical. Would this have been different had we went to a longer OCI? I'm sure it may have warranted the additional expense of the synthetic vs conventional, but wear levels with brand x vs brand y oils were virtually irrelevant. So use what oils you want but as Blackstone clearly states on their site, "we have no magical oil info to share, OCI is far more important than brand used."

As per Blackstone's own website. "
What's the best oil to use?
Ah, the million dollar question. We are an independent lab, so we don't make recommendations. It has been our experience that oil is oil, and either petroleum or synthetic-based oil will work well for just about any engine.
Come on, you're holding out on me. I should use synthetic, right?
Buddy, you should use whatever you want. Synthetic oil won't guarantee a longer engine life any more than my eating organic food will guarantee I'll live until I'm 90. We here at Blackstone generally use regular petroleum-based oil because honestly, it works just as well for us."

Ergo use a decent oil that has the correct viscosity for your engine and be on your merry way!
