That's the spirit. If everything else is fine, get it fixed and enjoy many more years of service. While that 5.3 is out, I'd go ahead do an oil pump and timing set. The o-rings fail between the pump and pick up tube.

I'm going to probably put a built 5.3 with 385 horsepower in it from summit racing.

Just an update. She's parked until I can get a motor once my tax return arrives.

On a side note does anyone have a front and rear 3:73 gear laying around they'd part with that isn't messed up? I'd like to have them put in at the same time I get the motor put in.

Didn't Castech make a 706 head? I'd make sure it wasn't if I was you. I have that same cam with the beehive springs and I love it!

Here's how to identify if they are Castech heads. Someone commented in another forum that there were multiple suppliers of the 706 heads, not sure if that's true or not. But this TSB should answer any question about it.

You could always remove--or ask him to do it-- a valve cover and look. That little battery insignia will be plain as day on the head.

I'll ask but since it's brand new I doubt that he will allow that.
