Truth be told... they are probably both negative.

One probably goes to ground/negative and the other side probably goes to the BCM and when you press the tow haul button it just grounds that wire temporarily which the BCM interprets as a signal.

Very common on GM vehicles to use a ground signal to turn things on and off.

That’s interesting! I didn’t know that! I’m curious, do you think it’ll have any affect on the shifter side of the wires?

Yeah I looked at that thread. Lol. But it doesn’t tell me which white wire is positive and which is wire is ground. Lol. I don’t like not knowing

It’s a switch. No negative or positive, it’s either open or closed as in either those 2 wires are connected to each other or they’re not. So it doesn’t matter, and that’s why they’re both the same color. Make sense?

Tow haul works on mine, I made up a harness so I didn’t hack up any of the wiring just plug it in and go

haha I second that now I'd like to see pics of harness. are u guys using just a 07-14 shifter from nnbs I see the ones with and without buttons

I had a leather one out of an Escalade but in trying resurface it to tan, I jacked it up. Lol. Another member had a black one from a 2011 LTZ burb so I picked up quick off him. It has the +/- buttons. All I did was connect the two white wires to the white wires in a pigtail I grabbed from an NBS truck in the junkyard and left the NBS pigtail on the shift handle side. That way when I’m ready to install in the truck all I have to do is connect the two pigtails like the guys said^ here’s a couple pics of mine.

It makes sense the way the @Rocket Man and @kbuskill explained. I’m just really electrical illiterate so trying to wrap my head around their explanation is difficult haha.

So just making sure I'm reading the posts on all these correctly, the tow/haul button will work, but the +/- shifter button will not.
