Anyway here is some info regarding the spark tables between an LQ4 and LQ9.
The first picture is a low octane table from a 2006 LQ4 in a 2500 work truck.

If you look at them there isn't much more than a degree or 2 between them in most areas so the Lq9 shouldn't be that crazy sensitive to knock. I fear the tune is jacked because that dude doesn't know wtf he was doing or even worse............ The cam is degreed wrong
