When they are brand new they are touching. I don't have an exact measurement of how much they should be touching but I assume that since you have 214k miles that your bars have sagged some. So im sure your truck could benefit from a small crank on the front bars. Maybe NORCAL SS knows what an OEM fender height should be.

But since they are touching they are involved in the dampening of any bump no matter how small.

I'm real close to pulling the trigger on his 2/3-4 drop kit. I'm wondering what else to replace at that time to freshen the front end up. I'm also wondering how much sense it makes to put unnecessary money into a truck with this kind of mileage....Its making me $500/mos on vehicle allowance (fuel is paid for separately) so I've got money to put into it, but does it make sense to do so? I dunno.....
