I assume you meant 255, not 225....

Anyway, 4.10s would help you drastically...but you'll need slicks to take full advantage of them... With a 4L60E transmission, 31" tires, and 4.10 gears you'll should cross the line at about 4,500 to 4,700rpm and you should cut at least 0.2 or 0.3 off your ETs...probably more.

Right now you're crossing the line at about 3,800 to 3,900 rpm in third.

A good approximation is that for every 0.1 second you can cut off your 60' time, you will drop 0.2 second off your ET. I think you could easily cut your 60' times down to the 1.75X range with 4.10s/slicks...

Good luck!

Also, drop any dead weight in the vehicle if possible. Another approximation is for every 100 lbs you shed, you'll cut 0.1 seconds from your ET.

Ok im going to gut out my rear seats and speaker system... but what if i just get Drag Radials for now will that help alot?

drag radials will help some. with my 3.73s i do 75 about 2100 i think to give you an idea. but 3.73s isnt worth the swap. what kind of speaker system do you have? i know some of these guys have a couple hundred pounds worth.

yep, gears would REALLY wake that up...heavy truck and those anemic 3.42's. I have a brand new set of 4.10's I havent installed either, because of the same issue.
3.42's are a great gear.....for a car. Not a 5700lb tank

Borrow some ET Streets or Drag radials, get soem 4.10s and then you will RWALLY feel it...12's indeed.

Definitely need a gear swap and pull out as much weight as you can for your next run. Run a set of slicks so you can launch at higher rpm and hook. I'd go at least 4.10 if you run those same tires. I ran on my 305/35/24 (32.5" o.d.) with my old stock 3.73 and ran thru the traps at the bottom of 3rd, which isnt good. I swapped to 4.56 and it made a HUGE difference SOTP, but havent ran it since the gear swap.
A gear swap and diet (stereo system, rear seats, etc) will shave a few tenths off your time.

thats what im going to do, get the 4.10s for the fronts and rears, gut everything out and if i dont get slicks ill launch on 4wd i guess..

what did u run on your 1/4 mile?

Even w/o slicks, launching 4wd with lower gears will help a lot.
I ran [email protected] with the 24s, 3.73, full weight w/stereo and a passenger, and launching only about 3/4 throttle for about the first 50 ft or so. Next time I run, I'll have these 4.56 gears and I'm hoping to have a set of smaller wheels and slicks so I can launch and see what this truck will do. I gotta trim down the weight also. Weighed in just under 6100 lbs with everything in it. Not to mention these 24s are way too heavy to be running down the track.
But anyway, you shouldn't have a problem getting into 12s with a gear swap.

amen, gears would be a huge gain, and tires, because with the lower gears, increased tire spin is inevitable.

True....but sometimes you actually may spin less with steeper gears installed. With the shallow gears it's usually a bit harder to spin, but once you break loose you will spin FOREVER unless you get way out of the throttle. With the steeper gears it's easier to spin, but you don't spin as bad and it's much easier to feather the throttle a bit rather than getting totally out of it and letting the tires slow down.

It's just a fine line you have to balance when running street tires. If you go with slicks, it's basically a moot point. Go with the steepest damn gears as possible and hold the f on!!!!
