So my 04 Denali decided not to go in reverse the other day, I'm proud to say besides the stupid ride control (which I still have not fixed) this is the first major issue and she's got 182K on her.
My cousin works at a chevy dealer and he can get a transmission for $1550 (3yr, 100,000) and the guy there will put it in for me for $400.
A local transmission mechanic (that I fully trust) will rebuild mine for $1450 6mth warranty (8000miles), $1550 1 yr warranty(15,000), $1850 3 yr warranty(36,000).

What do you think is the best deal?

And I was told by someone that even the dealership trannys are rebuilt, true?

If I get the dealership to do it, can I sell the broken one? How much?

I personally got mine from eatmyshift.com. Was like 2k. And will handle 500hp I believe. And it has a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty.

Going with the dealership, yes it is rebuilt from GM, and yes they take the old as a core. Hopefully I can get the ride control fixed and put another 200K on it!

(I was going to put the smily that turned into a GMC but didn't see it):boti:

This is a no brainer...go with the dealership option. 3 years, 100,000 miles, you're not likely going to put 33,333 miles on your car in 1 year...are you?
