I did a paper-towel test today and it looks like the transmission fluid has most likely been changed as it looks nearly pink with just a slight brown discoloration. No way at 200k it would not be dark I would think. On the attached pic I poured some DexroVl on the left side and pulled the trans dipstick several times to coat the right hand side. My plan is to pick up about 6 quarts of DexronVl and drain whatever comes out of the trans cover drain plug and refill back with new. Next summer when the weather warms a bit I will drop the pan/change the filter and check for any sludge. The 2ML70 is a beast of a trans. It apparently has some components that a normal trans does not have.

I agree that it's a decent plan, just be prepared for the drained fluid to surprise you. The dipstick can be deceiving when looking for anything beyond fill level.

Mine looked similar to yours, and my thoughts were along your lines. Here's what it looked like when I pumped that girl out....

I have had 1 issue in 6 years on my Avy. My torque converter went out a few hundred miles after I had the dealer do the 50k mile tranny fluid change. They did not drop the pan, they did a flush. I had extended warranty, so it was covered (and pan and fluid had to be done anyway). Coincidence? Maybe, but I probably wont do anything but a drop from now on. If you are that high on milage, just wait for rebuild and price accordingly. New fluid will break off all kinds of old crud into the system causing failure for sure...

Looking at a 2009 Tahoe LTZ. Has 162,000 miles. Maintenance has been kept up with as far as oil changes and things. In great shape! Transmission fluid has not been changed. I’ve read where some say at this high mileage don’t do it but some say you still should. Should i walk away on this one? Are there concerns with the transmission at this mileage? Guy is asking $14,500.
I have been eyeballing this monster, 2007 138k, $8150

I'm always worried about the damn AFM issues on these tho
