Tubular trailing arms!!

Hey everyone, its been a while and a few cars since ive posted on here. But ive got two suvs and I just did some trailing arms on both of them. I had sphon arms on my escalade and they were good but I was looking for other options. I bought some GM A body control arms and they are a damn perfect fit on our suvs. Some one chime in if this is something thats already been covered. The lengths of the A body arm is identical to our trailing arms at 22" the bushing is 3/16" narrower on the A body so I put washers on both sides of the bushings to take up the space. All in all it was a good fit and gives more options when looking for trailing arms. I bought black arms without the swaybar mounts so there would be no extra holes in the arms. Ive attached some photos of my 2017 yukon xl with a 3/5 drop and the A body arms installed and the other is my 05 suburban that has a 8" suspension and 2" body lift on 35" tires.

I ran billet Curries made for GM A-body, pictured next to the Sphons. For more of an off-road style, they make them for Jeep Wranglers that are close to the same length with adjustable joints and replaceble skids.

Cool. I’m looking at fabricating some with heim joints and out of 4130 chromoly tubing along with doing the pan hard bar as well for my 05 z71.

Very good info to know...if one is knowledgeable about other vehicles...it can make finding parts a little easier.

i have commented many times about the need to fabricate needed parts ( and i usually do in some cases), but most dont have the ability


i am guessing the joint angle was good and no bind at the bushing ( doesnt appear to be), and if you have looked into the upper arm as well ???


i may need to do this for a more rugged look. i really like the currie arms

I looked. Sounds like more or less intended for racing? The 454 is only about 230HP (on the high end). It’s just a street truck for us. No desire to make it fast. Just looking to bump the MPGs down at highway speeds.

I’m going to price out the 4L60 as well.

given those are shorter... do they change the pinion angle &/or move the tires forward in fender wheel?

When you say A-Body, do you mean the 64-77 GM cars like the Chevelle and GTO?
