Ugh. Tires and Dealership Woes

Yea, like @Fless said, i meant old tires. When aligned, get before and after printout and post here. If say partis bad, ssk to see or get details why is bad

Yea I didn’t expect much. He’s saying it probably all started when my shocks went bad back before 66k. That my tires most likely took a beating. And only escalated from the last service from 77k to now almost 78k.

Like everyone can see I need 4 new tires regardless so I don’t think they will be inclined to cover them. Just sucks because I got 44% less life out of the same tires.

He said my last resort is to plead my case with GM. Because of the shock issue it cause my tires to go prematurely.

He’s quoting me $1050 for the same Bridgestone tires.... Plus obviously I need another alignment @ $130.

Take it to another dealer or shop, you need the vehicle to actually be fixed before you put that new set of tires on or else you’ll be right back in the same position.

If they aligned everything 750 miles ago it should be dead on, and with how those tires look I bet it’s not even close.

Rear tires don’t look that good ether, see if you can get any tread-wear warranty off of your current tires to help offset the cost of a new set. Definitely need all 4.

They definitely didn’t align 750 miles ago they just “checked alignment”.

I’m thinking about calling GM and I have another local shop that is highly recommended that I may bring it to and they will align it for $80 vs 130.

And of course I’m in desperate need of tires because I’m going on a road trip this Sunday. Lol. Timing always ends up being perfect. They have new in stock replacement tires they can throw on for around $750 all in including alignment.

Check your ball joints and tie rod ends to make sure they are tight. If anything is loose up front, that is what tends make tires run uneven

Because that's the easy answer right. Who's to say or prove that is right or wrong?

But what you can possibly prove is that your service at 77K miles did not include an "alignment check" as indicated on your service ticket.

I would actually go one step further and say they didn't even "check alignment". Clearly something is not right with your alignment. Had the dealer checked it they would have seen it was not in spec and without hesitation jumped on the opportunity to hit you up for another $130 for an alignment. They didn't because they didn't actually check it. Hell a quick look at your tire wear (which they had to of seen if they rotated them) should have indicated something could be off with your alignment and then actually checked your alignment on the alignment rack.

Now as soon as you play that card or start to go down that road the dealers first response will be; "If it's on the service ticket we absolutely checked it. If you're alignment is out of spec today then it's most likely due to something that occurred while driving it; A pot hole, large bump, or something you ran over that has thrown your alignment out of spec. We'll gladly look into that for you and if you need an alignment we can offer that service for $130."

Then commence the p.i.s.s.i.n.g. contest...

If you're needing to get new tires before your road trip this Sunday then you for sure do not have time to mess around going back and forth with your dealer or GM to see if they might help you. That process will take weeks if not longer, you don't have weeks. You barely have a few days.

Save yourself the time and run away from that dealer to your local tire shop.

Yea exactly. Easy answer and probably just wants me to go away. And you may be right. That they didn’t actually check my alignment. Some people here are commenting that they don’t actual put it on a machine to check but rather it’s a visual. I just can’t see how that could be helpful in anyway.

My buddies is way out of alignment and I couldn’t tell just by looking at it. I definitely can’t tell on mine besides looking at the uneven wear.

So now is it all worth my time to engage in the ******* match and try to prove something that really can’t be proven on paper. I know they screwed up though. For sure.

And since I’m on a time crunch I’m probably going to end up at the local shop. I just feel like there should be some recourse here but I’m not sure that I have any. It will be a shot in the dark but I’ll call corporate as soon as I can.

I think he is more referring to the life of the tires. Like how does this set last me 44% less tread life then my first set ? Would having an issue with your shocks really take that much off the tread.

And we were dealing with the shock issue for some time. It was from right around 60k - 66k. There’s another thread on here about it but it was a PAIN. I actually had to ride with the tech and go back several times. First they replaced the fronts. Then went back a little later to replace the rears.

@DenaliMan16 How often do you rotate the tires on this truck? Have the upper and lower ball joints been checked on this vehicle yet? You can do it yourself if you know how to use a dial indicator and some basic tools like a floor jack and jack stands.

Remember, one can have their car aligned and then have it knocked out on the way home by hitting a speed bump too fast, a curb, etc.
