My 2012 Tahoe PPV, like all fleet/base model Tahoes came with a remote that unlocks doors and looks like this:

I am wondering how difficult it would be to add factory remote starter capability, which came standard on Tahoe LT/LTZ and all Yukons, and has a remote that looks like this:

Thanks in advance

I would think you would have to buy a aftermarket remote start kit

My Tahoe is a LS bas model so no remote start. Before buying it I negotiated in the dealer install a factory remote start. I wouldn't know the first thing about installing it but I know there are factory kits out there only problem is you will have to take it to a dealer to have it programmed.

Goodinblack installed a nice remote start system that uses his factory no remote start fob and did it himself. Might get ahold of him to find out more details. I believe it was a omega brand

First check and see if you have RPO Code AP8

If you do and want OEM then get this ......GM 19154444

Take it to the dealer to get the BCM programmed.

If you want aftermarket using your current equipment with no dealer intervention

Go to OMEGALINK.com

Order from Sonic Electronix

I'm curious. Did GM offer remote starter on the 2006 Denali xl? I really want that feature for next winter here in the SoCal mountains. I know I can get a decent aftermarket one installed for a good price. But I don't want an extra remote dangling on my keychain with my car key. That's annoying. Wondering if the one from GM from the 2007 would be compatible on my 2006. Although if it is, it might be pricey.

X2, did the same thing and got the extended range antenna/remotes, so much longer range than the OEM fobs anyway and was around $155 total, all plug n play and no programming at the dealer.

The part number you supplied is for 2007-'11 GMT900 SUVs. 2012-'14 require 22951516. Other than that, everything worked out exactly as you said it would and I now have remote start :)
