Well, I got my set of "not so Super Tips" today. :emotions122:

no receipt, no instructions, and fitment is not close.

I started by making one cut to get rid of the resignator muffler. I did this to see how far up I would have to cut since there were no instructions. I eneded up leaving about 4" before the bend. Got the Volant pipe to slide over and there was quite a bit of room. ..too much room to tighten and snug them in place.

After I aligned everything the best I could, they were still sitting very close to the rear tire. If you twist like hell, you can align them better, but still doesn;t look quite like it should.

So I got the impact out to tighten up the supplied clamp, and the Voalnt pipe is still waaayyyy too big to snug down. I bet I have a 1/4" if play left. If I had kept going it would have smashed the pipe, so I stopped. I went down to the local muffler shop and they told me there wasn;t much they could do with it as the pipe was too big. They could have made a sleave and had it work, but at that point, the cost in labor/parts was more than I paid for this thing.

I called Volant yesterday to find out where the exhaust was, talked with a girl up front twice, the first time I was sent to VM. The second time she said she would get "him" a message. No return call.

So now I sit here with thes "super" tips that don;t fit, $100 gone, and now I have to get something else put on since the exhaust end under the truck.

I'll more than likley have to get a custom exhaust at this point....since I cannot get a return call.

I have to say that I have had Gibson, Magnaflow, and CORSA. Never an issue...not once. I have also had 4 different Volant Intakes without issue.

NOT HAPPY! :manos:

That sucks dude, i just had mine put on today, without a problem. i would'nt know where to start with a install, so just brought it to the neighborhood muffler shop and he put it on in about 45mins. He even said that it is a well made exhaust. Did you call that tech support number? maybe its something simple that was overlooked. I have no idea about that though. so i cant even give advise.

Dude sorry about that but you should have let a muffler shop do it. They know how to fatten up the stock pipes to fit big inlet tips fora low price.

Yep, sounds like you got the tip for a 6.2. The exhaust pipe is a different diameter from the 5.3 to the 6.2. I installed mine the other day without a problem. Though I was disappointed about no instructions. They could tell you how far to measure from the back of the resonator to make the cut.

Thanks for the response guys. When i ordered, I just asked for the resignator can delete and said I had an 07 with the 5.3.

$#%^ happens though. I'm thinking they did send the wrong part. Bummer. I'm heading to Exhaust Pros today. He said he may be able to handle it. He's going to try and make a sleeve and weld it in place. I hope it works.

Talked to Volant a few minutes ago. Turns out I had received the wrong part. The Super tips I got were for the Denali. Larger diameter tubing and a slight angle difference. This made things a really big pita. As I did not know this until I was at teh muffler ship. Without a recipt of packing list, there was was no way to tell what part I had received.

Well, here's what happened:

Exhaust Pros, ended up stripping the bolt out trying to get it to compress. So they ended up making a sleeve to make up for the gap in diameter between the Volant and factory tubes. They welded the tube in place on an angle to get the tips to exit far enough form the rear tire and angle of the bumper. They also heated up the exhaust hanger and bent it forward to get the tube to align properly. The tips sit about 1 1/2" from touching the plastic bumper cover. So they look good there. Is this too close though? I don;t want the plastic bumper cover to warp. thoughts on this?

Can someone post up a pic of thier setup? I'm interested to see where the tips sit in comparison to mine.

Should I leave it like this? or should I start over with a full exhaust?

Here's some pics.

Well, drove it more today and could here it rattling around. LOL. I guess the guys didn;t weld it too good. no big deal though. I went to one of the local custom muffler shops this afternoon and had that one ripped out...and a flowmaster muffler and pipe all teh way to a 4" tip. It sounds throaty, but not too loud. LOVE IT!!!!!! $225 OTD. :peace: Thanks for the advice MAX. I'll start a new thread and get some pice after cools off some.
