Water pump time

Just curious how you found out it was the water pump rather than anything else. I have a bothersome noise that seems to be coming from the front of the engine too.

I pulled the belt off and started the truck. The noise went away. Put it back on started it up noise came back. After I pulled the pump off and spun the pulley you could hear the bearings were toast.
