So there has been a problem in this Tahoe for a while. The first time you use it after it's been sitting overnight (or a long period of time), I'll be backing up going down the driveway (doesn't happen when shifting) and I'll get the feeling like the ABS is "clicking" the brake pedal if that makes sense. I do lose a lot of braking power when it happens and I have to pump the brakes or I literally have next to no brake power. I don't quite know where to start.

Should I bleed the brakes?

Dealership says they can't reproduce the problem :emotions122:

Bleed the brake and that issue will be gone, also assume you check the brake lines for leaks and the brake fluid.
I hate when dealers give that dumbass "cannot reproduce" excuse. Like someone would really come out fo their way to make something up.

Especially when I spend $15 in gas going up/down a mountain to drive to the dealer. I'm just going to tell them what to do and have them do it. Fo free!

I'm not sure how the trucks/SUVs detect wheel speed, but if it's anything like my old LT1 camaro there should be sensors in the front wheels that the PCM uses to detect slippage. I had it happen a lot over the course of 10-15k miles until i crawled under there, found the sensors, unhooked the harness (right off the back of the hub), sprayed it out with brake cleaner, squirted dielectric grease in the harness and plugged it back it. Didn't do it again during the last 80k miles i had that car.

Might be worth it to roll under there and check to see if such sensors exist. I've never taken the time to look to see if mine has them... gotta change the oil in the next couple of weeks I'll look while it's up on the lift. You should see a wire harness in there somewhere. Unless it references it at the differential or something.

We have dealt with this problem a few times. Very hard to duplicate the issue. Are you by any chance turning when this happens??? If so, it could be your steering position sensor acting up. If the steering position sensor malfunctions the stabilitrac/abs will kick in without codes.

nope, usually backing down my driveway when I first get in the car for the day... it's a steep incline and dead straight. ABS/Stabili light doesn't go off
