no tools? its not a difficult job, a buddy and a 12 pack? it really depends on where you take it, dealer is going to **** you for sure since they book rate it and the mechanics do it in half that. its about a 2 1/2 hour job so times that by the shop rate, + fluid and tax

you might want to call around any local transmission shops and ask what they would charge to R&R since most of them are familiar with doing differentials as well should be better price then a dealer. I would have to guess your probably looking at around $250, cash talks.

That’ll be a price I can possibly live with, well maybe 200 is what I was really thinking but don’t wanna insult anyone, what ya think? Is that way too low to negotiate for?

Labor guides call for 6.8 hours... average shop is $100 an hour. So that would be your approx price before tax, shop supplies possibly state fees depending your location, all that Jazz.

Edit... 6.8hrs is for the rear, just now noticed you said front. Front calls for 3hrs. The front is stupid easy to replace.

Id bet you are going to get a quote of around $600-$1200 and the $600 quote will be from some of the shadey places that want to learn on your vehicle.

If you have access to air tools, floor jacks and a friend to help along with a warm garage to do it in I would be getting on it right now! Start at noon and be finished well before bedtime including dinner, drinks and screw off time.

Its not a hard swap at all...with air tools.

A couple things come to mind for me..

What year and model? it will make a difference in time.

Do you have a lift kit or other things that will cause it to take more time? Some lift kits will add an hour or two to a swap.

What gearing do you have in the rear does it match the front?

Pick a reliable shop and don't shop price. Quality does have a price and you will pay for it one way or another.
