Since Christie became governor in NJ , state inspection isn't like it used to be. Back in the day they used to torture your car! No more. As long as your check engine light isn't on, you pass. Doesn't matter if your windshield is smashed, no brakes, bald tires etc, as long as there's no light, you pass. Oh, they also do a visual of your catalytic converter.
Sounds like ours they just do emissions here no vehicle inspection (honestly they should for a safety standpoint, see so many shitboxes that shouldn't be anywhere near the road) there supposed to check for the cat here but they don't use a mirror or camera I think if the exhaust looks sketchy or it fails then they bother looking
