Had that feeling the other day. Sometimes it takes a plain jane to park next to you to really get a perspective of how much work you've done. After I left here I went to AutoZone where an old timer complimented on how (his exact words) "extremely clean" my truck was and then proceeded to say "i can tell you've put a lot of time and work into it" , that made me smile. Not a show truck but I try and make even a 14yr old truck look brand new and it's nice when someone acknowledges that.View attachment 183973

This when it happens is oh so sweet and rewarding. Bet that made you feel reallll nice.

Finally got around to changing my transmission fluid and filter, only hitting a few speedbumps.

First, the stock drain bolt simply wouldn't come off. Completely rounded off the head, so I got a new drain pan.

Then I had to get that PITA shift cable bracket out of the way next to a scorching cat converter. Those blind torx bolts were infuriating.

Upon draining the fluid by slowly (and messily) dropping the whole drain pan, I found out the new one didn't fit, it was much too shallow. So, I ended up having to reuse the stock pan, and will obviously have to suffer through a pan drop instead of having a drain pug for the next time.

Then after getting everything back together, torqued to spec, and topped off with fluid, I got to shift through the gears and nothing happens. The shifter moves, but the new gear isn't underlined on the DIC and i don't hear anything. After a few minutes of panic thinking I somehow blew the trans, I remembered that PITA shift cable and that I should probably reconnect it...

Whole process took a few hours, and everything's running smoothly.

Do you need the part number for the deep pan? I've got one waiting to go on I'll grab the number off it

That would be great if you have the part number, but no rush. I don't plan on doing anything about it for the next 30 months/30,000 miles.

A couple weeks ago I needed to replace that shift cable bracket as a result of my front driveline coming off but due to injuries to my shoulders I had a friend do it. He spent quite a bit of time on it and a few choice words. When I originally installed that bracket the trans was out and it was gravy.
