I know a detailer that wet sands them and then buffs them out. He doesn't even clear it, and they look great. Did you buff them out first before clearing them?

Electric buffer works much better. Depending where you live, they could yellow in less then 6 months.i tried to buff them by hand after i cleared them.. if you dont clear them they will turn yellow again within a year.
