Okay, so I'm on a roll with the wheels and all, it's not raining like it's supposed to be and I mowed the other day so....

I figure it's finally time to take a couple minutes and add the cabin filter that's been sitting in my garage.

1st: I'm a moron and decided to take out the impossible 3rd screw for the kickplate that's way up in behind the console and THEN look at this...

Don't know how I'm going to get it back in. A lot of swearing, I suppose.

2nd: There's no groove to cut!? Guess I'm gonna freehand it. Lame.

I decided to try a front air dam again, but this time I cut 1” off the bottom so it hopefully doesn’t catch curbs.

Cutting done. Yes, it walked on me in that one spot.



Cleaned it out as best I could up there with a toothbrush and vacuum. No leaves or anything, but a bit of nasty buildup in the fins that wouldn't have been there with a filter.

Filter installed. Fit is good. This is the Dorman carbon filter.

And yes, I got that third screw back in the kickplate. I used the old masking tape in the socket trick and then sacrificed my hand and wrist to get it started which took about 14,000 tries. Then I got a little ratchet into it and finished it off.

Airflow seems just as good as before and with AC season rolling in one of these days, I'm glad to know there's a filter in there.

Come do mine! Ha...I never put the kickplate back on because of that screw when I replaced a blend door actuator...blistered my finger just getting it out.

I would love to add a cabin air filter. Didnt know it was a thing.

What screw did you use to attach the cover and where'd you get the cover from? Junkyard?
