Because it's better than any aftermarket anything? The only thing that can even contend would be a complete Volant or maybe AFE. An ebay or any other, for that matter, cone filter doesn't even come close.

if you buy one of those intake's and live in California be sure to hang on to your oem intake because they will fail you on smog inspection without a carb sticker for it, you will have to put the stock intake back on before getting smoged.

Swap the CARB sticker onto the aftermarket one?
you have to have a carb sticker to begin with and it has to match the vehicle year make and model, you can't just stick any carb sticker on it because they have to enter it into the computer and then it brings up a list of vehicles that the carb number matches up with if your vehicle is not on that list then you wont pass. So if you bought one off of ebay and just stuck it on there you better have done your homework and verified the carb number matches, if you google the carb number it brings up a certification letter showing the brand name, part number and vehicle comparability list. I'ts all B.S. the manufacture has to submit forms and vehicles for testing and each test is upwards of $900 and it if fails they have to make changes and try again, for big name brands its not a big deal.

I can't even imagine how much money I have saved on ( every 2 year) Kalifornia smog check charges after moving to Florida 9 years ago.
it's cheaper now than it used to be, with a coupon you can be out the door for about $45.00 registration has gone up though my 2012 runs about $296.00 haven't received the bill for the 2018 yet but I think it's going to be a lot more.

Yea... California Smog Check is only $45 bucks, if there is no glitch.

My Florida registration is a tic less than $93.00...... For a 2 year .

And we have no potholes, no bumps on the smooth freeways, etc....
Must be nice. My 20 year old Honda is still $97 / year, and the emissions is $25. About $200/ year for the 15 year old Yukon, and the best part: our roads are dog shit!!
