I grew up in California ( N. Bay Area then So Cal )...... I worked as a racing team transport driver.
I estimate about a total of some 1,700,000 miles around the country / Canada.

California has the most God awful interstates & highways in the country.
The worst are the "new" overpasses.... they jump your coffee up & out of your cup holder on the transitions , asphalt to concrete bridges.... ( And I always drive a 'nice' semi-truck )

I will agree with you for the most part. Except for Michigan. Haven’t seen worse interstate’s than when I lived in Detroit!

it's cheaper now than it used to be, with a coupon you can be out the door for about $45.00 registration has gone up though my 2012 runs about $296.00 haven't received the bill for the 2018 yet but I think it's going to be a lot more.

That is crazy. In Texas I pay $25 for emissions and $80 for the registration. The registration might vary $10 to $20 bucks for old and new vehicles.

I'll find out what it will be soon enough it's due in May and they send the bill out 3 months ahead of time in Cali all pickups are commercial vehicle registration unless you put seats and seat belts in the bed
