Eh, just get a set of locks. I have 4 extra lugs of each of the 2 sets I bought because I wasn’t smart enough to order 20 lugs to go with each set of 4 locks but mine are the ones that come with a key also because they’re the splined ones. So I have 2 keys for each truck.
Lol. Me too, I just bought OEM lugs and about 2 days later the locks. Dumbass! Could have bought 20!

My Escalade gauge cluster is finally dying. PRNDL and all backlights are dim, and several gauges are erratic. Trans temp and gas gauge in particular had me concerned. Thankfully the "miles until empty" still works so my wife shouldnt get stranded with no fuel.

What is everyone using for rebuilds? I am considering doing the work myself. But GMGaugeRepair is charging only $125 shipped +$30 for LEDs with warranty. I am not positive I can do it much cheaper or faster.

I can get an LED kit with built in resistors for $25 from them. What stepper motors should I get?
Replaced all lights and fuel level stepper motor successfully. Trans temp is giving me hell... always maxed out. Gonna have to take it apart again.

That sucks. Man ever since I got the gauge in mine I’m staring at it.. winter to summer temps drive me nuts. Need to install my trucool 40k, because pretty much any time I turn on the air, the temp rides around 200, just driving normally. I’m thinking I need to clean the radiator fins as much as possible. Hoping that helps. Factory didn’t send her with any trans cooler.

Yeah trans cooler is a necessity imo. The coolant is always arpund 200 so without a trans cooler thats pretty much best case scenario for you

Got the toasted 408 out this weekend and found side to side play with all the rods. Hoping the rods and crank are okay but I'm kinda thinking something will be bad. Also noticed what I believe is the infamous piston skirt wear due to the longer stroke. Looks like the skirt was dragging the cylinder a bit. Dropping this turd off at the machine shop today and checking on my baby at the same time.

Also kinda disappointed I thought the 408 had a
Towmax stage 2 214/224 | .571"/.561" | LSA114+4
But we found its actually a
Towmax Stage 1 208/216 | .561"/.561" | LSA113+4.

So no point in putting it in my tahoe. However it would be a great cam for a 4.8 or 5.3 that wants towing torque if anyone is interested I'll probably post it up for sale.

rod mains are supposed to move side to side. but that one pic of the cylinder dont look so good. unless its a odd ass flash causing that line.

I didn't measure the side to side play but it felt substantially worse than acceptable on a few rods. But all that's subjective we will see whats up when the shop disassembles it.

The cylinder wear is very worrying. All 8 cylinders have similar wear on both the top and bottom where the piston skirt travels. I wouldn't be surprised if the block is too far gone. The motor has right at 25k miles which is far less than I'd want a stroker to last if it was mine.

yup thats the area i was referring to. very odd cylinder wear still. and at 25,000 miles too. id pass on that as a go fast short block.
