Mark, that's exactly how my Tahoe acted last summer when someone tried to steal it. The dealer said that the theft attempt had put it in that mode as an anti-theft measure to limit the thieves' ability to drive it. When they were doing the steering column repairs they reset it with their computer and everything went back to normal. I'm not sure if this is something done with the Tech2, or if they have something else that they do it with. Maybe yours somehow got set into this mode?
Probably not since it’s random. Unless it slips into that mode and back out. Sometimes I can drive for an hour snd it’s fine, other times it does it after 10 minutes but it never starts out like that if it’s been sitting for awhile. It almost seems heat related but like I said I’ve driven it for almost an hour before and it didn’t fail. Then after it sat and actually cooled a bit, it did it after 10 minutes. But thanks for mentioning that. I am actually replacing the ignition switch because a couple times when I manually shifted it, the engine cut out momentarily and the battery light came on and radio reset. I decided later that was due to the shift lever hitting the fob hanging off the keys and jiggled the ignition which I duplicated afterwards. The switch seems to be touchy but not all the time. I can sometimes tap it or wiggle it and it acts up and then sometimes it does nothing. I hate intermittent electrical problems.

Trying to beat the heat!
Vinyl wrapped my sunroof today. Figured a window pointing straight at the sun is going to make the inside hotter. With the shade shut I figure it’s at least a few square feet of black still, so now it’s beige.

Would have loved to match the 382e paint code, but this was about as close as I saw, then I figured error on the light side.
With the sunroof I figure it won’t be seen much anyway, but then I got a dumb idea…
Would it look awful to try to wrap the grill surround with this stuff? Sample roll sitting on the bumper… maybe plastidip the grill.

You would need to pull the center section out and it’s melted in place at about a dozen or more places on the inside. I tried removing one once and had some issues but figured I’d be able to reinstall that with some ingenuity but never got that far, I destroyed the entire grill trying to strip the chrome. I ended up having a body shop paint the whole thing, outside is pewter and the center is gloss black.

The PassLock anti-theft system is actually built into the ignition lock cylinder, it doesn't have a chip or anything in the key, all of the components are in the cylinder and housing. So if your cylinder is starting to wear out it could be causing it to trigger the anti-theft system intermittently.

I replaced the cylinder a couple years ago after someone tried to steal it while I was in a movie theater. The new switch will be here in a few days so I’ll replace that, it’s got 170k on it. Wouldn’t I see the security symbol going on and off if passlock was being activated?

Im hoping Blackbear can look at my datalog and see what’s going on soon. @BlackBearPerf -Shannon can you ask Justin to do me a solid and look at that? I don’t need a retune, just a look at that data I sent in! Please?:emotions33:

@915_Tahoe Rene, when you're working next, would you look up a fuel filler assy for my '04 Flex Fuel Tahoe? All the way from the gas cap to the tank, both hoses (and these use hose clamps at the tank).

Last 8 of VIN: 4R199261
I come up with this part number: 15289920, but am curious if that's been superseded (by what #) and are these available?

Thank you!
