Getting ready to re-do the passenger side brake. Other side has been fixed, but I have to shave some off the tops and bottoms of the metal backing plates for them to not bind in their tracks. Expect no pictures of that. You seen one, you've seen them all.

Also:

Thinking long-term major good move on my part here...
Just ordered the Vetronix GM Tech2 fro Chinacardiags.com today. $250 + $72 Express shipping... $322 total.
I think I will be glad I bit the bullet to buy this.
Especially being able to do the commands that can turn things on/off or changing whatever state something is in while diagnosing what is still working or not working.
I expect I might save myself a lot of headaches and feel like I can get further in diagnostics before having to call it quits and go to a shop for big$$$.

I'm considering getting one, too. My VXDIAG is spotty...keeps losing OBD comms it says. But I don't know if this will work any better due to that.

It’s the best investment I made as far as tools.

Also, got an estimate from a shop within walking distance (which is unreal in a suburb) which has good reviews and says they've already done 3-4 this year to replace the rear main cover gasket and seal. They won't put in my billet barbell and give me a warranty, so I might just forego that for now. $950.

Will try and get it done next week. Even if it happens to leak later, they're so close the convenience is worth it.

Did they say why they won’t put the billet barbell in? I find that suspect.

They'd put it in, but wouldn't warranty the job - so if the gasket/seal leak I'd be SOL. I'll see about getting whoever I find to do a trans rebuild/swap to put it in when the trans ultimately goes. Was trying to only have to pull the trans once, but the leak is getting really bad and trans is holding so far.

But what does the barbell have to do with the rear main other than it needs to be done at the same time that the trans is out. Which is why I say that’s a suspect condition to honoring the main seal job, it makes zero sense.
