Getting the connecting clip between the front cable and intermediate was fun, but I managed to get it off. Getting the rusty nut off the equalizer took a little patience and effort, but got that too. If I can at least get the cables done, the mechanic can futz with adjustments tomorrow and hopefully get an inspection done by Tuesday morning.

P.S.: My 04 has no rubber plug/access slot to access adjustments from the rear like most YouTube videos show... The only way to make any adjustments is having the rotors off.

BTW, Haynes specs the setting as 0.026" between the shoe surface and the rotor hat. Here's what the book says: without measuring, turn the adjuster screw until the shoe lining just drags on the braking surface, then remove the rotor and back off the adjuster screw until the shoe doesn't drag.

While crawling around getting parking brake stuff ready to RMV inspection, I noticed an exhaust isolator hanger was hanging by one side and a clamp on the back of the muffler split.
Replaced both. Hardest part was getting the old hanger off! The original had a band of steel embedded around the perimeter. Fortunately, that steel band was crumbling apart from rust. I was able to cut it off the mounting pins with a knife.

A new stainless band should also take care of what looked like a small leak at the the joint.

Also a little late-night driveway work on installing new parking brake cables...
Thanks to @Fless for responding so quickly with a photo of the passenger side, that I forgot to take before removal of the cable end!
I wasn't able to get the parking brake where it needed to be, but I got cables in place and attached. My mechanic is on it now for me... I ran out of time trying myself and was not getting things where they need to be to pass RMV safety inspection.
I did the best I could, but knowing limitations before breaking something is not a bad thing.

Its been a while since I've popped in, just a quick update. I was able to get a free Diablo Sport Intune 2 for free. I did all the updates just now and it looks like its ready to use. Has anyone used this "tuner" before? Trying to see if its good or bad, I figure it can't hurt for free.

As long as it doesn't do anything to mess up your system... Might be fun to play with with. If it allows you to back-up or save the existing parameters in a file or some kind of memory bank, you might want to see if it can do that for you before you get tinkerin.

I've read as much as I could find online for this particular tuner, it says I can restore factory settings at any time. I think I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

If it's anything like the inTune3, it first copies your factory tune and stores it, then you apply the inTune of your selection. You can restore the OE tune from the inTune3.

Having said that, ECMs aren't all that expensive from the UPulls, so it might be a good idea to pick one up and experiment with it. Be sure to remove power from any aftermarket radio, alarm system, etc. prior to loading a tune.

Having done further research after you stated that, I doubt I use this. I have found that people are running into problems with the communication network in the vehicle after installing a tune. I have a rather large stereo and a few other electronic add ons I'd rather not mess with. I guess I'll pass it on to the next person that wants one.
