Here is a cell phone teaser pic of my truck at the shop. Almost done with the exterior mods so I can move on to the inside.

HD hood is on with the little paint scheme we came up with. Depo black housing headlights, smoked marker lights and full Denali front end conversion.

My truck is a 2002 SLE model. More to come.

Ya, post up some day time pics. Looking at it I'm conflicted.... Not doing the whole top inside black n following all the way to the lines(hard to see could be wrong) has me conflicted if I like it. IDK, but it's not mine, so...good job? Doing something different.

Have thought about adding some pinstriping myself, so KINDA reminds me of that. Why conflicted if I like it. But alittle too cowboy maybe for me.

Not hating, just not sure.

I figured I would try something different, I've seen others just paint the hump black and the rest color matched. I can always paint it again, but for now I like it.

With the paint and the clear you can't feel the transition, a buddy of mine thought it was vinyl until he touched the hood.

I'll post some better pics this weekend once I'm done with a few more mods

Here's some more cell phone pics of this weekends mods I'm going to be installing:

The steering wheel is new from Victor over at autowoods.com who is great to deal with and very helpful.

The switches I got used and were a little rough, so I took them apart and cleaned them up with a clay bar, wax, polish and a sealant. They came out really good, look almost new now.

I hope this is really the right thread for this. It is stuff I've done in the last week or two.
Hey guys I'm new here. I picked up a black 2005 Z-71 tahoe a few weeks ago. It's fully loaded with the bose system and even the block heater. Since buying it I got on here and lurked around, learning about my truck and the things some of you have done to customize and improve your tahoes.

Now that the introduction is out of the way I'll share what I've done so far. I've been busy for only 2 weeks. I've added the K&N cold air, a magnaflow muffler, Depo projectors with DDM 55w 6000k low's and 35w 5000k fogs, I did the 6hi mod, I did the hidden antenna mod, I swapped everything over to LED aside from the turn signals and brake lights (trying to decide what housings I want to replace those with). I added sockets and LED's in the brackets that were factory under the dash for floor area lighting.

I've kind of stalled out because most of the other things I want to do carry a large price tag and I'm moving to TX in a few weeks so I'm putting the following on the back burner.
-corvette servo (I have a new one from Oregon just haven't had the chance to install it.)
-leveling kit
-remote start
-Alpine double din media receiver, amp and custom sub box in the pre 03 factory location
-KMC XD series addict 20's (haven't decided on tires)
-powerstop brake kit with SS lines (the brakes will need replacing soon anyway)
-comp cam, springs, rockers, headers, and a tune.
-possibly a 4l80 swap but I haven't done much research on it to see if it's even possible/cost effective/needed over building the 4l60
-needs darker tint, especially the crap job done on the front doors by the previous owner and it needs to be buffed to make it perfect.

Welcome to the forums! You've got the right thread for that kind of stuff. However, I suggest you create a build thread of your own in the Under Construction section of the forums towards the bottom. While your at it, lets see some pictures!

thank you. I've been slacking on the pictures I know. I'm not real camera happy when it comes to any subject. I'll get some taken tomorrow but for now here's a few the dealer had up when I bought it.

Same here. factory 17 Yukon wheels is what I picked up with tires for $150.

I couldn't get any on the rig shots because I swapped them at 7 last night and it was pretty dark.

Has anyone pull the clear coat off these?

Aircraft stripper, or Jasco paint stripper will take it off. Might take two coats to get all of it, but not hard. I just stripped a set of aftermarket wheels to try to clean them up.

Ya I did the same to a set of aftermarket and destroyed one because it has a alum powder coat under the clear and I am to lazy to waste more time on rims I don't care about to clean them up... they are on craigs for really cheap.

Didn't want to do the same thing to these. I prefer these 17s over the 20s I had. they drive so much nicer.

My Z71 rims I have on my denali for a while now are indeed a softer ride but I loved the way it cornered and rode with the original 22's that it came with!
