I use a huge angled needle, more like a harpoon.
This happens alot-
For cracks I use a heat activated paste, and these rubber pads that have leather grain in them. Long and tedious. I don't really know any how to's. Everything I use is a specialized tool/materials.

"specialized tool" = civil war first aid kit.
