What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

So imma derail this thread for a second. Got a weird clunk from the rear ending that only happens when I go over bumps. Thought it was the spare but it’s tight. Thinking the springs may not have seated all the way in the upper perch. Rear end was rebuilt in 08ish with a posi but it’s been taken care of. Read it could be the slip yoke or the pinion bearing but the pinion bearing seems unlikely imo.

I had the same type of clunk a few times. First time it was the pinion bearings. (Or at least that's what the shop TOLD me) Regardless, it was still under warranty back then so they rebuilt the entire rear end at no cost to me. Then a few years later I had a clunk again. It sounded nearly identical, except it also did it when accelerating very quickly from a stop, or braking really fast. Turned out to be the slip yoke. Third time it happened, I greased the slip yoke again thinking that was it. Still clunked over bumps. I replaced the rear shocks just because they were about due to be replaced, and that ended up getting rid of the clunking. So it was in one of my rear shocks. I didn't even think about the shocks, so I accidentally fixed the clunk by replacing the shocks. Lol So check everything I mentioned, it's bound to be one of those.

i like it, just wish i was not so scared of it getting ****** up parking it in parking lots. its door ding free, id like to keep it that way.

truth is im still getting used to it. it gets driven on weekends only pretty much, if its not raining. you know how the rain is so far here lol had it 3 months now, used 1/2 a tank of the free full tank it got when i bought it.

now the tune just made it out right scary with the tc and stability control turned off. pretty sure a cam and a whipple will make me crap myself, but im still gonna do it. lol

Rear end is fine and the slip yoke is fine as well. I think it’s the shocks

its not like i beat it regularly, but went wot a few times before the tune, tc on and off. didnt chirp or really break em free.

after the tune, i turned off tc a s/c and eased into it from a stop, tires squealing the whole way to the top of first gear, got it flooded near the top of 1 st, it hit second and the ass was sliding left and right. so i let off, didnt want to look like a mustang driver and crash it. that caught me 100% off guard. it will chirp second gear if i hit it just right too now.

Pulled the heads last night. Stock bolts backed off. I wanted to see if any bolts were loose so I used a 3/8 ratchet and almost no effort to loosen the back 2 on the passenger head. Block is good. So that’s a relief. Heads are at the machine shop getting checked out just to be safe46cf8c77c2656f159bd97856cde5b6a7.jpg. Should be done tmw. Hoping to have the time to put it together this weekend.

What made you decide to pull the heads? Head gasket leaking?
