Nice work, these trucks are beasts to detail.
Sounds crazy but it’s good to throw wax/polish on the trim around the windows instead of taping off. Gives them a semi gloss look and prevents cracking and fading. Obviously the rubber can still be taped off.
Thanks for the advice. I will definitely keep that in mind. My previous experience with the Meguires ultimate compound is what made me tape them up. I used the ultimate compound and polish then finished with black wax. Has anyone used the ceramic stuff yet?

Well, this is what I found:
passenger side cover and head -

Much better than I was expecting. And I do have the 862 casting.
Is that emblem (2nd image) the Castech symbol? I can't see the symbol on the head.

And the driver's side -

Compared to the passenger side head, this looks to have more build-up.
Should the passenger side be oil-stained?

Now either I caught this soon after the problem started or something else is going on. The oil didn't look too bad in the drain pan -

At least it didn't have any chunk or globs in it.

I think I will just give the covers a good cleaning, finish the oil change and drive it for a few miles and recheck.

I agree with your proposed plan of action. That doesn't look quite like coolant in the oil. Maybe a little extra water from condensation given the amount of sitting time?
