MAP torch, it gets hotter. Didn’t take too long. I just work it around where the cap is pressed in and as soon as it starts bubbling I just work it further from the hole so it snakes out. What did you use? I went with a regular propane torch but it took forever. What a PIA!
It has 230k miles on it and I got all 4 for under $100. I’ve been chasing an issue of it moving side to side over large bumps on the highway. Most bushings looked good but the upper control arm bushings had some cracks in them.
I haven’t yet but I’ll report back about it when I do (Monday most likely).Have you had a chance to drive it for a bit and see if it made a difference?
Can you use 5100's on a lowered ride? Without jarring your teeth.I think the 5100’s are going to be my next shock. The 4600’s haven’t been very impressive.
They have a 0-2” lift shock so maybe with extenders. I’d be putting them on my Yukon, not my Tahoe. Can you use 5100's on a lowered ride? Without jarring your teeth.
How hard was replacing the ball joint?Yesterday, got my Bilstein 5100’s in the front, and replaced the upper control arm, and lower ball joint on the PS.
She rides sooo much better. These were the original shocks up front I believe. They were definitely shot. Much tighter, and she settles immediately after road bumps and humps. Even silly things like drinking from my water bottle while rolling are vastly improved. Not spilling all over myself anymore. Lol.
Couldn’t have been easier for me. My buddy had a heck of a time with the control arm though, due to the torsion bars. Have to lower down to ease the pressure on it, so you can line up the 3 bolts. How hard was replacing the ball joint?
