Oh man does it really light everything up! All my lights are led, which really helps alot too. You also have leds?

Nope, good old fashioned incandescent bulbs. There were 3-4 years I had HIDs in the truck, but I eventually went back to bulbs. Do the LEDs have the same issue the HIDs do where they project light all over, including into oncoming drivers eyes? I haven't really looked into them so I have no idea if they are a true replacement for bulbs.

Some guys will say yeah--I'm not really sure, but I haven't had anyone high beam or flash me at night. I had hids before, so for me leds are a huge improvement in night time driving. I actually couldn't see shit with the hids. Here's my headlight lenses--Spec D. 20190817_122711.jpg

You guys cost me $25 for something I didn't even know I needed LMAO. I ordered the Fleece all lights on chip from Amazon and installed it last night. I figure with all the money I've saved by not having a car payment for 13+ years and doing almost all the repairs and maintenance myself, why not splurge?

Yes indeed! Love this “mod” couldn’t be much easier.
Very! I take trips out to the country every so often, and it'll be nice to see how my visibility is improved with the low beams staying on with the high beams.

Hopefully you have fogs too..? Then you get all 6 [emoji16][emoji106][emoji631][emoji631]

Yes, both HID’s and LED’s are designed to be used in a focused housing, in other words, projectors.

While each manufacturer does things a bit differently, regarding the led types, and precise location on the “bulb”, this affects how badly, or hopefully not too terribly bad the beam pattern is. And of course, another part of that equation, are the actual housings used. Any non-projector is designed for light reflection from an incandescent source, which has light beams coming out unidirectionally, but since they have silver-painted areas, this actually does direct the light where you want it.

So some are better than others. They’re all really no good for standard incandescent-designed housings though. I’m eagerly awaiting my retrofit order. [emoji16][emoji106]
These will provide both a clear, non-scattered beam pattern, due to the projectors, as well as much-improved visibility.

Finally replaced the brake light switch today. Been needing that for a while. I have had intermittent issues with the CHMSL not functioning.
Then I had another driver tell me about a week ago that my brake lights weren’t working!
After fiddling with it, I verified it was indeed working, but I really didn’t have any confidence, and was always checking and verifying the brake lights were actually working.

I had ordered what I thought was the correct part: d02ae6c5c08bf9a3a3c4a0a57d887174.jpg

But, of course as soon as I looked on the brake pedal, discovered that’s the [parking brake] switch..

No worries.. I ordered the correct part, which will be here in a couple days, OEM AC Delco... for now, I’ll just take this one apart and clean up the contacts...

That bottom one is really corroded and you can see the metal is questionable....

Well, broke out the brake cleaner, and a wire brush, cleaned those contacts up, reassembled, and wedged back in place..

Did I mention that getting to this thing is a back breaker...? Things under the dash are never fun IMHO, but this is particularly painful. Anyway, this little clip is a mf’er:

After reinstalling —minus that clip— I tested the brakes.... nothing.. I had questionable lighting before, now I’ve got nothing. [emoji23][emoji1787]

After checking all fuses, and checking for continuity ahead of the switch, I determined the contacts must have been too far gone, and when I cleaned them up, I must have removed the tiny remaining metal that was actually working..

So, headed to O’reilly for a Standard replacement. All is well..

Now i have an Genuine AC Delco part on the way, as a backup. I’m not likely to break my back again unless it’s necessary..!

But the best part..?

Box 1 of 2 showed up today:

ok need your opinion on this noise sounds like it is the actual driveline, makes no sense
I can't catch it in slow motion--but you have something in this area. Looks like it's sticking out--Screenshot_20210329-183843_Samsung Internet.jpg
Sounds like something slapping as the ds is spinning. I know-"duh", but that's the best way I can describe what I'm hearing.

I saw that too, but it looks like it’s supposed to be there.

That’s a really strange noise.. almost like theres a quarter in the clothes dryer...

Any vibration while driving..?

Are there weights inside the driveshaft for balancing...? That’d be my guess.

Bought some duplicolor Dark Spiral Gray Metallic and clear rattle cans to attempt color matching the end caps on my newly acquired Esky roof rack. If it looks horrible, I suppose I can try and find a small shop to paint it. Not sure how much that'd set me back or if they'd even do such a small job?
