Thanks Steve! It’s a good thing. I need to get to a more free state. Colorado isn’t the same. Lived here since my youth, but it’s unrecognizable now. I also really can’t afford to stay here after the divorce. A “starter home” is 450-500k these days, and I’m really not willing to spend that much unless I have some land.

And, no, I haven’t had the time to do my leather seat yet! Lol. I was waiting for our meetup, but now, I’m afraid it won’t be done until after my relocation. Definitely don’t want to try it in the cold.. and boy does my lower back miss it.!

I totally understand about how bad this State has gone downhill. Been here over 35 years now and "unrecognizable" is an apt description. I am also looking at other places for around retirement. I do have some excellent neighbors and my son is just down the road, so it will have to wait.

About the seat leather, we can still try to get them done. Just have to have a nice day to do them, and we usually have some good days in spring. Keep it in mind!

Hey Sam, good luck down in Texas. I've been thinking about relocating as well, been here since the 70's. After retirement I'd like to tow my car around rather than an oxygen bottle. Have a safe drive and let us know how it goes.

We enjoyed living in E. TX. In Nov. 2020 we moved to the "Redneck Riviera" gulf coast in Ocean Springs, MS and love it here. Its hard to believe, real estate costs are lower here than N. Dallas. But there are lots of nice small towns around Tyler .... Marshall, Jefferson, Kilgore, Longview. Tyler is nice too, good shopping and medical and spread out enough to be in town and in the country at the same time. Hope you enjoy your move.

Got the black grill in. Looks all right, it's a different color black unfortunately, but it does free the chrome grill up for my work truck. May have to repaint it to match body color better.

I can say TX is a retiree friendly State. There's no State income tax and your get a break on property tax after age 65. It's gotten pretty pricey around the major cities, but you can still find comparively reasonable priced homes within an hour or so drive from DFW and I presume it is the same with Houston. Not so with Austin. Compared to the rest of TX prices are high in and all around there. The Hill Country around Austin is beautiful, but the beauty comes with a premium on real estate. Also, being the State Capital with plenty of politicians, lobbyists and bureaucrats living there, the political climate is atypical compared to most of the rest of the state. If you like a politically charged environment Austin is the place to live. If you're tired of politics, almost anyplace else in TX is good.

Having said all this, we moved from N. TX to the MS gulf coast a little over a year ago and love it down here. Overall, the cost of living is less, the people are genuine and friendly, apart from the occasional hurricane the weather is fantastic year round, the food is great, and every October they hold a week long car enthusiast event called "Cruizin' the Coast; during which thousands of hotrod and classic cars lovers gather to show off their cars, swap stories and participate in cruise events from Bay St. Louis to Pascagoula and all points between." It's eye candy overload and car talk on steroids!

Going to dig into my passenger rear seat belt retractor, damn thing is pulled all the way out and won't go back in. Anyone else tried to repair theirs? I'm hoping its not a lost cause as the kids love riding in the Tahoe.

If it has a hard time retracting, is it worth taking a chance it won't retract (as it is designed) to instantly remove slack and lock on impact?
Especially for kids' sake, you might replace with new GM replacements or have a professional repair done.
