If it has a hard time retracting, is it worth taking a chance it won't retract (as it is designed) to instantly remove slack and lock on impact?
Especially for kids' sake, you might replace with new GM replacements or have a professional repair done.

This place is popular... https://www.seatbeltplanet.com/p-35843-repair-service.html They are in the US. Maybe worth a phone call to see what your options are.
They can do different colors, if you want to jazz up the old ride with some crazy contrasting color.
I'll check them out. Thanks for the recommendation! I figure if I can't get it to work myself with a bit of tinkering I'll replace it through them.

My buddy moved to new Braunfels and we went down there this summer. Floated the Guadalupe river. I never knew Texas was so nice! Lol

Got my Tech 2 scan tool fired up today - after a couple of minutes realized I am in no way good enough to just 'figure it out'. I couldn't even find my vehicle in there. <sigh>

Guess I get to dig into the documentation to see how this thing works. :(

Is yours 4x4? What's the 5th & 6th digits of your VIN?

Need to know and enter "Product Line" when you get to that menu after selecting the make and model year.

Most of our vehicles are C (2WD) or K (4WD).

This video may help you...
