Wireless Apple CarPlay FTW.
I had my first experience with CarPlay last week in the rental. It was unintentional- I just plugged my phone in to charge and all this cool shit started happening. Do want.

It won’t save anything except the name of your phone. Apple is probably the safest ecosystem out there. When you rent a car, do you ever look at the names of phones that people have sync’d to the car? I have seen some very interesting ones. I always try and delete my phone before returning as I don’t know what kind of contact info gets saved.
I’ve used it on and off for a couple years but always hated the fact you had to plug in the phone so I fell in the habit of using Bluetooth because it’s wireless. Until the latest HU I installed in The Beast- wireless CarPlay, finally available in only a few aftermarket units and not even in any American OEM cars yet. It’s in a few European luxury cars so far but that’s it. It connects via WiFi for a high enough data transfer. I love it, now when I get in I don’t even have to take the phone out of my pocket. Everything I need to do with my phone is available on the HU touchscreen. And it’s immediate too, it’s up and running as fast as the radio would come on. Super highly recommended.I had my first experience with CarPlay last week in the rental. It was unintentional- I just plugged my phone in to charge and all this cool shit started happening. Do want.

I find that I don't use CP really much at all now. I thought it was cool in the beginning but there isn't much it does for me that the head unit (in my non-Tahoe) doesn't already do while using Bluetooth or plugging the phone in. But I'm sure it may benefit others who use it differently.I had my first experience with CarPlay last week in the rental. Google maps full screen, phone book, fullscreen control of your music, messaging, etc...I find that I don't use CP really much at all now. My first experience with CP was the exact same as yours. Plugged my phone in to a rental that had it.
Yeah I think people who drive more than me benefit from it. I typically ignore my phone once I start driving and I rarely use Nav, though when I do the factory nav seems to have worked just fine.Google maps full screen, phone book, fullscreen control of your music, messaging, etc...
