X2. Wtf is up with this exhaust shop!?
I was pretty clear I won't do business with them again but so many weird red flags. Like he told me that they were pulling the plug wires off and they were just destroyed from removal.... But the plugs and the wires are like a year old. And then about the gasket. I'm considering trying to get the 'failed' gasket back so I can 'get my money back.' The owner claimed they had a gasket for a racing header set for a ls motor lying around so that's what they used. And there's orange sealant all over the place, I don't know what that's about.

I cant put together how this would benefit them in the slightest.... So I'm just considering letting it go. The hard part is done. The arp bolts are in. I can most likely put on the remflex if I were to buy them again.

Yeah. Seems like a shady shop all around. So maybe they used some high temp make a gasket type crap..? [emoji2955]

They used the wrong gasket and some hack job with all the rtv sealant. I would get the oem mls gasket and use the arp bolts.

You would notice if remflex gaskets where used. They are about 1/4” thick before compression. Take a pic. They are oversized too so they conform to the manifold and seal up. You should see a bulge around it. Graphite gray color.

Edit: Can anyone find the ones for ls exhaust manifold? I only found header style. DT headers and anything else that’s 1-7/8. Nothing for manifolds. If the used the header style on a manifold that could explain why.

You mean these?

I may not understand your question but those are what I bought.

Take that back to those assholes and tell them to put on a new set of gaskets that DONT LEAK! WTF are they letting you drive away with a leak still happening? If you have stock manifolds I suggest a new set of stock gaskets, there’s no need to use Remflex. They are fragile when installing and I doubt those assholes have the skills when installing them. Once they’re in place and not over torqued they’re fine but ask @Tonyrodz how easy they are to break just setting them in place. They’re meant for headers or manifolds with uneven surfaces that regular gaskets won’t seal on. If you want to do it yourself, put the front on blocks, pull the wheels and fender liners, go in from there and it’s easy. Stock torque specs are 11 ft/lbs first pass, 18 second pass. And never return to that shop, and if possible get on social media or if they have a website get on there and trash the shit out of their name. Just think how many people they screw over on a weekly basis. You need to let potential victims know how they treated you and what kind of shit work they do. This is ridiculous, it should have been done for free this time, and done right.

Can't believe you remembered @Rocket Man! Yeah, I set the ps in place and tried maneuvering it in place. It just started to crumble and fall apart. I didn't manhandle it or anything. That 1 time was enough for me. I had to use a Fel pro to replace it. Never leaked or had a problem with that side--til my motor went. This was on headers btw.

Yes those are for headers not manifold. The corvette manifold for a 2 year span is the only exception. Every other application is for headers. That’s the issue. Just get the oem gm mls gaskets and do it yourself. Now that the bolts are new and arp you should be able to get them out easily.
Unless they screwed those up too and cross threaded them

No it's not leaking now. They just didn't put on what I gave them to put on.

They could have told me to pound sand. The original repair was 18 mos ago, and their warranty is 12. Every other shop wanted 4-600 for one side gasket removal plus extra for the extractions.

Pulled the sub's and reconfigured them to 4ohm's and added a little padding to the enclosure as a experiment, my amp doesn't really like 1ohm and I have to keep the gain really low, now I turned the gain up seems like the bass peaks sooner but I'm going to have to tune it more got to be too late to disturb the neighbors
