New upper control arm and an 18 mm ratchet wrench to get the nut off. Not much room there above the axle shaft to even slip a socket on.

Completely agree. I'd rather spend more and not have to change them every year. I used the OEM on my 07 and rarely had to change them in my 10 years of ownership so I'm sticking with itThe OEM ones cost a bit but the aftermarket ones break so easy. Did you order chrome ones or are you gonna CM?
I used my impact with a swivel attachment to get into the tighter spot. Came in handyNew upper control arm and an 18 mm ratchet wrench to get the nut off. Not much room there above the axle shaft to even slip a socket on.
Is that your standard PPV cluster? I didn’t realize they had the chrome rings around the gauges.
Honestly, I don't recall. They weren't GM. The hubs are Timken.Which end links did you use?

I'd leave it deactivated. My reasoning is that the lifters are held rigid by a pin that is retracted when AFM activates. If the pin never moves, the lifter can't collapse uncommanded unless a part physically breaks. If you turn on AFM, the pins may retract but not return to the "locked" position, leading to failure.
Read your post and did the same tonight. Thanks. I left the 2 sections where the brackets were as you can see. But much better looking.
