Changed the oil in thecopcar.

while I was down there I did a preemptive change of the starter. When that failed on theothertwin, it was an$800 hit.

First time out with the hood Louvers on thecopcar. It’s definitely at operating temp after driving an hour. I stopped for a bite for both dog and me. AC running because it’s humid out. I’m watching incoming air temp. It is above the ambient temp on the dash sensor. I hopped out and held my hand over the hood to gauge that, then over the louvers. Heat was boiling out. In other words it’s working for what I wanted.

How's the seal between the filter box and fender?

Anyone know where the fuel pump relay and or fuse is?
Under the hood i see a spot where it says it should be, but i don't see a fuse in the location nor the little square relay or breaker looking thing...

I think the later models with the FPCM don't use those components, yet they may be installed. Mine were, but it's an '08. Maybe by '09 they decided to stop wasting unused relays and fuses. When I was trying to drain my fuel system, I removed the fuse and relay with the engine running. It never shut off. Oh well, I have a spare fuse and relay on board if I ever need it.

What're you trying to do?

Haven't really touched my Tahoe in weeks. Earlier, a few hours after Jenn got home, I checked the mileage and saw it has been 3,000 since the last oil change (already!). So I checked the oil just 'cuz. It was still amber colored and almost at the full mark. So, it's definitely running cleanly and burning next to nothing since the major operation. Engine bay smelled of warm engine- no coolant or oil odors at all. I'd like to have it back in my possession within the next 2,000 miles, when it'll be due for another oil change.

Apparently you can leave that little connector unhooked from the throttle body, and it will still run and rev up.
Not happy at all when you do that.
Nope, not happy.

Just finished with the first break-in cycle.
was iffy if i ran it for the full time, I kept turning it off to check the transmission fluid.
3 gallons, and it still wants a few more quarts i don't have.

off to the store!
One more fill up of break-in oil, and a few hundred miles to drive +/-

And i opted to run the 87 octane, ran hp tuners to monitor pinging.
none logged.

engine sounds fantastic. *knock on wood*

I have 3/4 of a tank, I'm thinking i'll top off with 110 octane... that should get me about mid grade right? :)

You're running conservative stock timing, the CR isn't sky high and the tighter quench staves off detonation. Don't go WOT to redline while towing a motorhome and you'll be fine for break-in.

Mine had three-month-old 93 in it (fuel loses its octane rating with age) and this is less than an hour after the first start:

Ty.
and lol. couldn't wait eh. :jester:

And yeah i have some real weak timing right now.
2500 6.0 is pretty weak sauce.

Once i had a basic handle on timing thanks to goat rope garage (lots of different tables affects it, confusing at first), I did a compare with an 08 2500 6.0 HD and decided that was my go-to. :)

Just doing slow revs in park for the first part of the break-in, fuel trims looked great!

I'm sure that will all change under load.

I don't want to jinx my self, but so far i'm happy.
for the amount of money i spent, fk! :jester:

gotta knock on my **** for good luck etc.
don't want it to be like the dod delete, all proud of myself and bam. Sparkles.
