I think between the noise and burned fluid, I'm destined to replace it. I need to check with Black Bear to see if it will negate my tune. All my local shops use HP Tuners, not AutoCal. So if they have to do something to program it, I may have to live without a tune, which would suck.
I am fairly sure there tcm tune are not locked on these once you have the new one in the tcm will have to be learned to the vehicle vin anyway so it shouldn't matter, but i would verify that.

Yeah, BB says the new TCM will need to be re-flashed. Also, I will probably need to budget for a new radiator since there is likely metal in the trans cooler. It just gets better by the minute. Trans options are GM/Jasper for $2800, GM HD for $4200 or other aftermarket for $5k+. Oh, and nothing is in stock, so several weeks to get anything.

You can do it with HP Tuners as well. Its in the scanner functions.

This!
but search the internet for the instructions.
I had to add a field to show "learn status" or something along those lines.
from there it showed me the instructions as it ran.

My tech2 I swear did it once, but afterwards I can't find the option to initialize it.
luckily i also have hptuners.

I heard that a tuner like hptuners could reprogram a tcm, but I have no idea if that's the case or not.
One day I'll order a new one and see if hptuners can initialize it using my tune.

You have to add the PID when connected to the vehicle and the trans fluid has to be a certain temp before it'll allow that function.

It does. IIRC, you ordered the delco, then ordered the denso but then found this one and you told me to order it. I think you found this one right after you ordered the other. That's why I sent you all of the pictures. I thought I had to search for part number but I just went to rockauto and it pulls up under "2008 avalanche" (same as it did in the picture when I ordered it).

All this being said, I've noticed zero difference in my cooling but I haven't towed or anything. Also, I never paid attention to it before, when towing, so there's that. It always stays in the middle (210). BUT, since I was buying anyway, why not get a little thicker core. Had I already bought one, I wouldn't switch (unless you're having heat issues)

"Haven't noticed any difference", as in, going by the gauge? Mine stays right below 210, but scanners show 190. No idea where it was in stock form. When towing, I've had it go a little past 210, which is probably actually 200 at most. Like you, I'm not concerned at all. It was just an easy way to upgrade a little for the same cost as an exact replacement.

Just looking at the gauge. I've never noticed it above or below. It has to be an upgrade over the 1" though. I was just saying, I haven't noticed a difference in regular driving

Had to ask, since you're one of those special people with scanner capabilities.
