What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Did you use 1 large piece of CF? I don't see any seams. Nice job.

I don't think it's possible to do with one piece; certainly not for me. I wrapped one long piece around all four vertical sides, putting the seam in the back where the cupholder hides it. This piece, alone, took about two hours to put on. It took a lot of stretching to get it to conform to the tapered sides without wrinkles or bubbles. Then I had to work it a lot around the cupholder tabs. I finally just gave up and cut the film away from the tabs altogether. It looks fine that way, as the black plastic blends with the CF. It'll be rare that I'll remove the cupholder anyway.

The top surface is the second piece, and was comparatively easy. I cut one large rectangle, laid it face-down on the table, and placed the bin on top to position the film. The rest was just heat, pressure and patience. I was able to save the big piece I cut from the center, and stick it back on its backing to use elsewhere. I did trim away about 1/8" of the molded ribs on the underside of the bin so I'd have a flat surface to wrap the film onto when I did the edges. This probably helped some.

I tried a few ideas for hiding the seam. Once the sides were wrapped, I used a new X-acto knife blade to trim the top flush, angling it to slice the film with a bevel. This eliminates the ridge where the two pieces of film would overlap. The second piece just laps over by about 1/8". With the two surfaces reflecting light at different angles, and the CF pattern being so busy, the seam is pretty hard to see.

I have to say there were a few moments when I thought about wadding it up and starting over. But I found that the wrap is very forgiving. Unless you physically tear it or scratch it, you can peel it off and add a little heat to take it back to square one. Having said that, there are some scuffs that are visible if you look really closely. But I figure it'll get scuffed in use anyway. And with a black interior, you need a flashlight to see them. All-in-all, I'm really happy with how it turned out.

I did this with the “Denali” and “GMC” logos for a buddy of mine. Now I see they have them on eBay in all different carbon colors.
Never thought about doing the wood grain. Nice work! We will be curious to see how the rest of it turns out once you dive into that part.
Steering wheel too? Haha. That one might involve a bit more cursing and some deep breathing techniques so you don’t end up throwing too many of your tools.

I replaced the steering wheel with one from a Suburban LTZ. Same buttons and heat, but without the "wood" ring. I got one of the last ones from a GM dealer before they were discontinued.

I hated how the ring felt, and mine had come unglued. Several attempts to re-glue it had failed. So I didn't see any other solution. Besides, I wouldn't expect vinyl wrap to hold up on a steering wheel.

Has anyone ever had to replace the plastic tabs on the”bezel” that hold the rear license plate lights? Someone wife.org, decided to use the bezel as a handhold lifting the tailgate. Ripped it half off now it’s sitting lopsided. It looks like I have to pull the interior panel to get it all the way off.

Ripped it half off now it’s sitting lopsided. It looks like I have to pull the interior panel to get it all the way off.

I did the tabs for the body panel that houses the gate switch and the license plate lights...
used epoxy to rebuild the tabs so they could hold the screws that secure from the backside of the panel.

Ordered and was charged on 6/6.
Just got this email from summit that they are expecting another month to ship...
I don't know what the hell is going on with Mickey Thompson and these particular tires and size, but apparently they're really hard to come by right now.
So instead of getting a decent deal through summit, where I know at least they would be brand new, I need them sooner rather than later at this point.

So of all places, ended up on Amazon and found four of them in Canada that will be here by the 7th at the latest supposedly.
Once those actually get to my door I'm just going to cancel the summit order and get my refund.
If I were to order the same thing through summit again, the projected date is the end of December now.
I need these things on for desert season and just rainy season also, feels like I've been plenty patient.


Also wouldn't be surprised if my tires were stuck on one of those damn container ships that are all out of the Port of Long Beach waiting to get offloaded.
Hope I don't end up with two sets.
