Liking your custom cover of the airbag. Gotta ask How did it feel? Have not had the pleasure of the experience yet.

BTW, your system voltage seems high.

BTW, your system voltage seems high.

Test of the voltage with the gauge reading where it is reveals it is 14.4v, so ok there.

The airbag was not as loud as I thought it was, but I'm shoot a lot of guns so I'm used to loud. I didn't even hit the bag as it deployed, the impact speed was low (~15mph) and the seatbelt did its job.

I'm going to used that thick nylon thread used in Scout craft projects to sew the cover shut and keep it as a memento of the accident. The passenger one I'm just going to replace with the cubby low rent trucks came with.

I also installed some aftermarket gauges.

Replaced the tail light lenses on my '96 Tahoe LT 2 dr. Was a good bit more effort
than I anticipated. One of the beauties of these vehicles is that many assmeblies are serviceable. Being able to restore components cost effectively has me lovin' my 'Hoe!

Well I picked up the hoe today with the used tranny in it. Does not have the hard 1-2 kick anymore but the used one seems to have long shifts to it. That plus the codes I have had before leads me to believe that the previous shop did not perform the expected upgrades at all that were requested. Even think that the rear gear was chattering but by the time I got to the hotel again it seems to have disappeared. Will do some more testing of it tomorrow with the mt2500 hooked up to monitor all the tranny data and see if something is a goof or if it was just going thru its learning phase. The tranny supplier wanted the old one back complete so since I could not afford the core charge of $75 I had to let it go. From what I could gather the 3/4 clutches while burnt looking and smelling still seem to have plenty of life left on them. Likely at least 75k miles on them left. Could not get to the others. Also could not get the pump torn down but further visual inspection and finger poking showed that the TC stator bearing had failed and that the bushing around the front of the pump was really badly scored. Splines were eaten a bit too. The TC and the input shaft were able to wobble quit a bit as a result. For now the current one will have to do. Till I can afford the the 4l80e upgrade. The moment I can get all the parts together for it I am dumping the used one. Does not even feel like it has a shift kit on it.

Well after further testing and scanner diagnostics I have determined that the lo/reverse clutch pack in the used unit is not good and the 3-4 is showing some issues as well. It is going back into the shop Monday morning. I am getting long lag times shifting into reverse or drive when cold and it drags ass for a bit till warm. Most of the shift errors that the pcm is recording are from +.23 to +.97 seconds. No solenoid issues and the PCS unit is compensating as much as possible to avoid slippage but it is just not good enough.

Dropped the hoe off at the shop again to have the used tranny swapped out for another used one. Hopefully in better shape. By the time I got there (2 blocks away) reverse, 3rd and 4th gear were wiped out.
