Got sick of looking at the rust on my roof so I sanded it down and laid on some primer. Just need to get it painted now.

I put in firestone rid-rite bags a while ago to get the rear back up till I get around to deciding what to do with the rear springs. I love them. I still want to get the compressor and automatic levelling system too.

unknown at this time.
Ordered one of two new belt pulleys. My idle and tensioner pulley bearings are a bit loose and noisy. K&N filter recharge kit. Has not been cleaned in at least 2 years.

R&R'ed the heater core valve doohickey...the vacuum operated valve that I assume opens/closes the coolant flow to the heater core...in line with the hoses to/from the heater core, directly above the passenger upper control arm. I noticed it was leaking a bit yesterday. So I drive it to Advance Auto Parts (~0.7 miles from the house) to show them what I need. I grab it to give the person a better look and I immediately break one of the plastic male hose connectors, spewing coolant. Fortunately, it was only warm and didn't scald me. That plastic piece isn't too sturdy! Fortunately, they had one in stock for $12, so I r&r'ed it on the spot.

HOWEVER...they informed me that I should have the orange (Dex Cool) type of coolant in my system, which it does not (has the green). They told me the green can corrode the heater core and cause problems with the water pump as well. Is this true? If so, I should flush out the green stuff and use the orange.

Okay, so after the above post, I do some quick online research, and saw other discussion forums talking of how the Dex Cool has been known to cause heater core/water pump problems. Bottom line - I topped off my system with regular ol' green Peak. Prior to doing so, I looked down, and the radiator internals couldn't look healthier.

Dexcool or green are fine, just don't mix them.

The bad thing with dex is that people tend to never change it. It must be changed every couple of years or it goes bad and causes problems. Regular green stuff lasts longer and won't cause problems if you let it go for 10 years.

Parts monkey was just trying to help. Gotta remember half the people that walk in don't know what the make/model of their car is.
