So my girlfriends new (04) tahoe is AWD with stabilitrack and all that shit. What exactly does the stability control do? I pushed the botton and turned it off and did not notice any change in power and i still couldnt get the tires to break loose, so what the hell is it for?

"StabiliTrak uses sensors to detect the difference between the steering wheel angle and the direction you're actually turning and depending on the situation, applies quick, precise force to the appropriate brakes to help the driver control the vehicle’s direction to help keep it on course."

Stabilitrak was explained above..but also...
when it rains...go to a parking lot and try to do donuts...you will see the way the computer controls your truck to prevent you from losing control....

then, turn the button off and do the same thing...you will spin a lot easier...it makes it seem like there is no computer control...its like driving any other vehicle

actually...it is better known as *Traction Control*...there you go :)
