I have been debating this swap for a while. Now that I found a leak in my rear Diff, I am seriously considering it. I currently have 3.42's and would like to jump to 4.10's.

Anyone have any suggestions or links to quality brand's? I'm rather clueless on these parts.

Thanks

Thanks Sunlit and Bowtie.

You guys know of any links to a instructional on doing this. I am very handy, have plenty of tools and even did a new carrier/spider-gear install years ago on a ford. But is there anything crazy when it comes to this install?

finally i been able to get on for some reason everytime i been trying to get on here it would freeze my computer... anywho. i have a 4x4 this is a daily driver i run 285 50 20 i tow everyonce in a while. so what would be my best bet for better perfomance and also better mpg?

You know that happens to me to, not sure why. Certain sites are either really slow or they freeze my computer.

Well, I'm kind of fond of 3:73s. I have gone the 4:10 route before and was not thrilled, it was my DDer also and went from 3:73s to the 4:10s. Highway driving sucked, I was at higher RPMs than desired and my MPGs went down.
A 285/50/20 is just a bit larger than 31", I actually had the same size tire on one of my previous trucks and ran 3:73s. It was a runner for sure, granted it had a built tranny with billet torque converter. It went to say the least :) .
I guess for my .02 3:73s are a great all around performance/street gear.
Hope this helps

moviewithnotitle,
I know you need some kind of gauge to check backlash and such. I never took on that project, it intimidates me for some reason. But, now that my Hoe is more of a toy, I plan on pulling the rear cover and checking things out.

While we're on the subject. Has anyone put on an aftermarket diff cover?
If so, which one?
Thanks

Another TruTrac owner that gives it two thumbs up.

If I didnt have a TruTrac, I'd go with a WaveTrac.
