size of tank should make no difference when calculating MPG anyway because it's miles driven divided by gallons used. The gallons to fill up the tank don't factor into that calculation

If I know that I have a 23 gallon tank and if I burn half a tank on a 250 mile drive then that lets me know that I have only burned 11.5 gallons of gas...so i take (distance traveled/ gallons used) 250/11.5 and that gives me my miles per gallon.....which would be 21.7 if these numbers were accurate but I just made them up for the example. not being rude but thats the way I understand it to be.

You are speaking of hwy miles right?

Bro, 245 sounds low, on my stock wheels i would go 290-315 on a tank. Take it to a local shop other than the dealership and have them look it over.

Im driving mosty city but its 50 mph ...and two many traffic lights : D

Explain how you manually figure out mpg. I was under the impression it was like this......you go to fill up and you're on a 1/4 of a tank. you have a 26gl tank, and you put in 22 gal. Time to fill up again and you have driven it down to a 1/4 of tank, you drove 285 miles on the 22 gal you put in last week. That's 285/22=12.95.

I think I had a typo in that quote, but I'm not surprised. Anywho....

I just take the miles driven since last fill up divided by the amount of gallons I just put into the tank indicated by the fuel pump at the gas station. So if the fuel pump states that I put in 22.345 gallons and my tripometer says I drove 285 miles (i reset this every time I fill up) then I just take 285/22.345

you do know that your gas gauge isnt accurate, right? Ive gone 250 miles on half tank, 100 miles on the 2nd half...they are normally like that..

the only way to do it is fill the truck up, drive it until empty or whenever, and fill it again, take miles/gallons you put in...

the DIC in the truck isnt correct either..thats the only way to get a true number
