2004 Z71 Tahoe, Bose, 6 disc, onstar (don't use it), xm (don't use it either) no nav or read dvd (just the simple audio controls for the rear passengers on the back of the center console)

Factory radio is crapping out, gonna get a double din touch screen style radio with blue tooth and nav, etc. Haven't decided on an exact model yet, but mainly concerned about how to hook it up. Want to retain steering wheel controls and chimes, xm and onstar doesn't really matter to me. Not sure what RAP is (retained accessory power, but what is that?), but I see that on the product descriptions...

For simplicity, steering wheel controls is probably the only convenience feature I'd really want. Chimes can go I guess...

I've read a lot on here about the gmos100, but also see the gmos100i on metras website as well... (neither of which show up on the vehicle search...) but I do get about a dozen other modules that are listed when I enter my vehicle information. I see an antenna adapter too, I'm assuming that's a necessity as well?

I've done all of my previous vehicle myself when it comes to audio, but this is just out of my element... Never messed with a radio that requires all these extras to keep certain functions.

Any input is appreciated, thanks!

I have an 03 denali with bose and all features mentioned. I run the metra GMOS-04 harness, this will keep all you features working as they did with the factory headunit minus the steering wheel controls. I do not have the steering wheel controls in use but I believe you need the axxess ASWC harness to retain them (might want to double check that) RAP is the feature that doesn't turn off the stereo until the door is opened. I believe PAC makes a harness for our vehicles but, I don't have any part numbers for them. I also needed the antenna adapter with my aftermarket headunit.

The GMOS-04 should have the harness for the ASWC-1 already built in. If bose and onstar are not needed you can go with the GMRC-01 and plug in to the harness that is clipped to the back of the dash directly behind the A/C controls. To keep bose you need the GMOS-04 which will also retain onstar. I believe you will lose your rear audio controls regardless.

Hokay, this is what i think i need...

eO6AE7R.png

Does this all look right to yall?

-Not sure if the dash kit is necessary, but its free so got it just in case.
-Not sure which Steering wheel interface i need, AWSC or AWSC-1 (can't see any difference between the 2, but metra's website shows the AWSC-1 when I enter vehicle info so I'll go with that one...)
-Antenna adapter included free as well...
-They price match, found this unit for $839 elsewhere, so I submitted a request to match. If they accept it, I will be at about a $1k out the door. Not too bad for Pioneer's "Flagship In-dash Nav unit for 2013...

What ya think?

More crap... just read that the GMOS-04 uses high level input, and I believe the BOSE system uses low level input, resulting in high pitch interference noise...

Read this:

thoughts?

depending on which version of the gmos-04 you get you might get a line out or you mihgt get direct connect speaker wire like a normal harness

i bought my gmos-04 last year summer time, mine has a line out

my buddy got one a few months ago, no line out, smaller box, and just connected to the speaker wire like you'd wire up a normal harness, simple

i bet if you went to best buy to get the harness you'd end up with the latter, i'm not sure about ordering off the interwebs

also, i didnt run into any issues with my new head unit

i had some posts a while back about noise issues, and i thought it was the same exact thing you were thinking

turns out i blew the pico fuse in my pioneer and caused the rca's to become unshielded

the line out does feature a potentiometer so you can set the level to a point where you wont get feed back or a whine and continue to have good sound out of the bose

my suggestion though would be to further down the road get rid of the bose and install some aftermarket speakers

Are you talking about the line out on the gmos04? The box itself has a potentiometer on it?

As far as my "shopping cart" goes, is that all I am going to need?

If I decide to cut out bose and chimes, what am I going to run into?

-Do I lose the front and rear smaller speakers, on the pillars (plays only out of the 4 door speakers) ? Or do they all still function?
-Can I still use steering wheel controls with the ASWC, or does that require a GMOS box?
-Is there any interface necessary? (gmrc-01 is just for chimes, not required?) or is there a harness that goes directly from HU to the Bose bypass harness?

This stuff is making me lose sleep lol...

The GMOS-04 with the line out does have the pentiometer on the box that you can adjust to get rid of the whine and feed back like posted above. I had this same problem with mine when first installed and was unaware it had this, it drove me crazy! It also has one to adjust the sound for the chimes and onstar. I just recently saw the other version so I can't really input on that one. You shopping cart looks correct for your complete install.

Got everything comin from Amazon, decided to go with the AVH-X8500BHS instead of the Z150. Biggest difference is it does not have NAV but I believe I have found a way around that and not cost +$400... I spent $730 total on this setup:

I got the HU:
http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-Mobil...UTF8&colid=2CI5BDGW4T4QL&coliid=IYV6CYSMVNE5Q

The dash kit:
http://www.amazon.com/Metra-Double-...TF8&colid=2CI5BDGW4T4QL&coliid=I19GDC641A5VL8

The interface:
http://www.amazon.com/GMOS-04-OnSta...TF8&colid=2CI5BDGW4T4QL&coliid=I33GN73TR2501K

There Steering wheel controls:
http://www.amazon.com/Axxess-ASWC-1...UTF8&colid=2CI5BDGW4T4QL&coliid=ILSJUKXQAWEHV

The Parking brake bypass:
http://www.amazon.com/AVH-X1500DVD-...UTF8&colid=2CI5BDGW4T4QL&coliid=IDQMV1SPHAQ56

The Antenna adapter:
http://www.amazon.com/Metra-40-GM10...TF8&colid=2CI5BDGW4T4QL&coliid=I38TSKXVHYVUNX

A backup cam:
http://www.amazon.com/Koolertron-Li...TF8&colid=2CI5BDGW4T4QL&coliid=I3SC7HI6AWITGL

And the key piece to add Nav to the unit for $11:
http://www.amazon.com/Patuoxun-Micr...TF8&colid=2CI5BDGW4T4QL&coliid=I1O67IV4AOH5BY

From my understanding, with AppRadio I can connect my Galaxy S3 via the MHL cable and bluetooth to the HU. In the AppRadio app one the phone, I have access to a handful of Video, Music, Travel, Communication, Social, and Transportation apps that I can operate on the screen. With this, hopefully I can use navigation when needed, and not have to fork up the extra $400 for that built in option. I've also noticed that most built in nav units have a bit of lag when going thru menus, changing stations, or even when changing the volume. Seems to me that the units without the built in nav are much snappier.

I'll let yall know how this actually turns out!
