Call general motors

Ok so I picked a 2001 Tahoe a little over a week ago now, and I'm not sure how to tell what model I have.
It's 4X4 and does not have a 3rd row. It's the 5.3 V8. Other than that I have no idea what model I have. I'm the third owner and the guy before me doesn't know.
I know the obvious answer is to look at the badges but they were taken off probably by the first owner. The only badge I have is the bowtie on the grill. Any help would be great.

I would ALWAYS recommend for everyone to call the GM Customer Service Number and provide them with your VIN #. Then have them put you in the system as the new owner of the rig. They therefore will have you on file, just in case there is a recall or whatever, you shall get notified.

Once on the phone with GM Customer Service, have them check the exact model of your vehicle which they will verify based on the VIN #.

Please find below the info I have for GM:

GM General Motors Corporate Office Headquarters HQ
300 Renaissance Center
Detroit, MI 48265, USA

GM Corporate Phone Number: 1-313-556-5000

GMC Customer Service: 1-800-462-8782

-----> (I would assume they will transfer you to CHEVROLET in case of your Tahoe, I just happen to have the GMC Number based on owning a YUKON).

GM Mailing Address
P.O. Box 33170
Detroit, MI 48232-5170

Hope this helped.

Hate to burst your bubble but I have a LS and I have leather. I also have armrest in the bucket, tow package and foglights. Maybe I'm very nicely equipped lol.

Ok I think I might just call GM and find out. I already registered on the GM website with the VIN but it's not very helpful on their site. Their isn't much info on their at all. I don't have fog lights, but I do have Armrest in the bucket seats and tow package also. The leather I can deal without. I had leather in my '05 accord and didn't care for it. It was cold in the winter and then burning hot in the summer.

Call GM!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the same problem you have and they gave me all the info I needed, including the color code of my rig. GOOD LUCK!

What, Mr. Chauncey being stumped? Now that's a first. :)

I would assume there are the base models as described in the thread below. But I would also assume that there may be differences "thrown in", ON TOP of what a base LS or LT would be.

For instance, there are some Yukon SLT's With or Without the DVD player. I would assume certainly an upgrade to the "base".
