Afternoon All!

I am in the process of buying new wheels. I currently have stock OEM 20" wheels on my 2010 Black Tahoe LTZ, but, I was wondering if a 22" size would look better?

I am really the only person in Northeast NJ that has a modified 2010 generation Tahoe, that I know of, so I don't have anything to compare to in real life.

Several things:

  • I do not want to ruin the ride quality in a major way. It's one thing that I love about the Tahoe over friends' Expeditions, Navigators, etc., is that it truly drives and rides like a Luxury SUV and NOT like a a bigger F-150/250 in SUV form.
  • I do not want to have a massive wheel gap that I see on a lot of modified SUVs and Trucks, (and even cars).
  • I don't know if this matters, but just in case, I am going to list it; my Tahoe is my POV for both my LE Career and for my Volunteer FF Rescue/Paramedic Job. So sometimes I use her to get to either a Crime Scene / Fire / Accident / etc., and I sometimes have to drive over curbs or other rough terrain. I have also performed a "PIT Manauver" on a Perp during a high speed chase spanning multiple towns and two counties. :gunner::scum:

My OEM wheels held up perfectly... not one scratch, nothing.

Also, FWIW, I **MIGHT** be getting either coilovers or lower springs... not really sure.

So in everyones opinion, what size do you think is best? I am thinking 22".

Also, could you please recommend good websites to purchase wheels and wheels/tire combos along with the best / most popular brands for our vehicles?

Please feel free to post up your photos!! :pepper: :head3:

Thank you so very much for your time!!:happy160::happy160:

Justin

I say leave your truck the way it is.

I would not put on 22's if you actually use your truck for the things stated above.

LEO's have steel 17's don't they?

That extra side wall is nice to have.

If you want to mess with rims and tires do your ZO6. :naughty:

I say you get some OE 22s with a meaty tire like a 305/45/22 or a 305/40/22.
You will also need to spray the wheels gloss or flat black.
That way you will still be fine with 22s and using it for trying LEO situation.
Also, get aftermarket sway bars, Bilstein shocks, and a 2/3 Belltech drop.
All your LEO friends will be jealous and your Tahoe will do things their Tahoes can't get close to doing.

I say oem 22". I changed mine to 22" from the factory 17" and I got a much smoother ride right off the back.P1010063.jpg

Modded had it right with the 22" and a 305/45/22. Unless your going to lower it. I have a 2/4 drop and 285/45/22 which work perfect. I run a Toyo h/t as my winter tire which rides awesome. Check out my sig. It's my summer setup with factory bridgestones which I thought were pretty good until I put on my h/T's. here's my winter setup. Lots of pics in the album too.

Sumo's is a great example of a perfected black Tahoe with 22's.
I wouldn't do drop springs on the front do a drop spindle and add a bigger rear sway bar since you use your vehicle for pursuit sometimes.
