May sound dumb but what do the wheel bearings sound like when going bad on the Tahoes? I have a 07 that makes noise only sometimes and only in turning and slow speeds but its a squeak/squeal sound. Ive been told maybe a bearing is going bad but the only way I know they sound is a roaring and its not doing that. Any help would be great thanks.

Ive seen bearings make ungoldly to no noises on their way to total destruction. It depends on how its failing to the noises it makes.

Wheel bearings will have wobble in them if they are worn out. a simple jack up vehicle with tire off ground and wiggle it will tell you this... Generally these wont make much noise, but you will see dramatic tire wear on the inside edge of your tires. due to the tire leaning in. Caused by just driving the vehicle, this is by far the most common failure.

Now a over spun, or over heated bearing that's on its way out wont have any wobble but will make all kinds of noises, mainly a high pitched squeal or loud whirring noise. Caused by a lack of lubrication.

A bearing with dirt in it or crushed rollers will make alot of crunchy noises and all sorts of hellish noises. This is by far the simplest to identify. Caused by jumping rail road crossings (O yea), Slamming into curbs head of or at extreme angles and or mudding the vehicle with no maintenance.

The issue I am having is its sorely intermittent. I cannot make it happen on demand by any means. Usually happens in parking lots only when turning. It did sound more like a small dog barking or a belt to begin with but since has not been quite as bad. I checked for wobble in the tire but didn't seem to feel any. The pure fact I cant get it to happen but ever so often and not on demand has me baffled.

I did check that and added some to it. That was right before the sound changed come to think of it lol. I also greased the two tie rod ends at that time too though.

How's the condition of your belt?
A warn belt can make that squeak/squeal sound intermittently.

edit: unless it is the mouse ;)

Definitely not a mouse rofl. The belt is maybe 2 months old. Both were originally replaced with AC Delco belts when the Tahoe was bought in July. The main drive was replaced again due to constant squeal even with brand new belt. Now it has a drayco belt I believe. Could the tensioner need adjusting by any chance and this cause it?

Are you positive it is the correct size belt?
It sounds like it may be a smidge too big if it has that squeak/squeal.
I had experienced that and my belt was an inch too big. Little did I know they made two different size belts.
Gatorback belts are my belt of choice, been through a few dayco with no luck.

No adjusting the tensioner.
If you replace it, be smart, get the HD from mageson. its a super charger belt tensioner, designed for belts that slip alot due to blower stress.
It will be the last one you ever buy.
